This day trip, departing from Sendai Station, will take you to Matsushima, one of the Three Scenic Views of Japan, the historic Shiogama Shrine, and the World Heritage Site Chusonji Temple. First, head to Shiogama Shrine. Boasting a history of over 1,200 years, this shrine is known as the most powerful spot in the Tohoku region, and is said to bring good luck in matchmaking and safe voyages. Don't miss the beautiful vermilion-painted tower gate and the spectacular view from the 202 stone steps. Next, in Matsushima, you can take a pleasure boat to view the beautiful islands, visit Zuiganji Temple, and explore freely. For lunch, you can enjoy fresh seafood bowls, Sendai's specialty beef tongue, and its famous dumplings. Finally, at Chusonji Temple, you will experience the history and culture of the Heian period. You can feel the romance of the magnificent history as you visit precious cultural assets such as the Golden Hall and Sankozo.
