Our Tour begins with a scenic 2-hour drive from Muscat towards Nizwa passing through charming Omani villages, dry riverbeds (wadis), rugged mountain ranges, and lush farms. As we travel via the historic town Izki, you’ll witness a blend of modern life and traditional culture, with stunning landscapes that showcase the diverse beauty of Oman’s countryside. The journey itself offers a rich tapestry of sights, providing a captivating introduction to the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
Step into the vibrant Nizwa Souq, a bustling marketplace that perfectly blends tradition with modernity. Known for its authentic Omani charm, the souq is a treasure trove of local handicrafts, silver jewelry, pottery, and aromatic spices. The atmosphere comes alive with the sights and sounds of merchants trading goods and the enticing aromas of frankincense and Omani sweets. It’s also famous for its lively Friday cattle market, where farmers gather to buy and sell livestock—a must-see cultural experience. ( we recommend to start the tour earlier on Fridays; @0630am or 0700am)
Explore the historic Nizwa Fort, one of Oman’s most iconic landmarks and a testament to its rich heritage. Built in the 17th century by Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Ya’rubi, the fort features a massive round tower that offers panoramic views of the surrounding oasis and mountains. Inside, discover hidden traps, exhibits showcasing traditional Omani life, and the ingenious defense mechanisms used to protect the stronghold. A visit to this architectural marvel is a journey through Oman’s history and ingenuity.
