Bo-kaap

Soon after we have collected everybody we will drive to the BO KAAP also known as the Cape Maly which used to be a slave area during the dark ages of South Africa/ Here guests will have the opportunity to take some photos with the colourful houses. It may be one of the most photographed areas of the Mother City, but brightly painted houses and quaint cobbled streets aren’t the only reasons to visit the Bo Kaap. This part of Cape Town is packed full of history and culture. THE BO KAAP HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MANY NAMES The earliest development in the Bo Kaap area was undertaken in the 1760s by a chap called Jan de Waal. Subsequently, the area became known as Waalendorp. It has also been known as the Malay Quarter, the Slamse Buurt, and Scotcheskloof. Translated from Afrikaans, Bo Kaap means ‘Above the Cape’. IT IS ONE OF THE OLDEST RESIDENTIAL AREAS IN CAPE TOWN Part of the Bo Kaap’s charm is the mix of Cape Dutch and Cape Georgian architectural styles. You can actually visit one of the oldest buildings in the Bo Kaap because it has been turned into a museum. The Bo Kaap Museum, which showcases local Islamic culture and heritage, was built by Jan de Waal in 1768, and is the oldest house in the area still in its original form.

Camp's Bay Beach

We will stop here in Camps Bay where you will see the version of Beverly hills of Cape Town. Get your camera ready as this is what we call a kodak moment.
