See platypus in their natural habitat. It is possible to see platypus at any time of the day, but our best chance is just after dawn.
We pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and drive to the special platypus area. From there we start our 2 km easy walk along the creek looking for platypus.
We usually see one or two platypus, and loads of birds. After watching the platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before returning to Byron Bay.
We can’t guarantee platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry. If we don’t see them we take you on another day, free.

Your guide will lead you at a gentle pace, showing you what to look for and sharing insights about this much-loved and quirky Australian animal. We usually see one or two platypus, loads of birds and sometimes even koalas. After watching the platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before returning to Byron Bay. We can’t guarantee platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry. Thank you for your booking. We do have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 people on our tours. If you’ve booked for 1 person, we will need to make sure we have some other people on the tour, so you won’t be on your own. This is a little weather dependent, we can operate it in light isolated showers but not heavy rain all day. We will contact you if the weather is not appropriate to run this tour. Please wear covered shoes, bring your own water and a jacket/jumper, it can be a bit cooler early in the morning. If you didn't bring a jacket with you, don't worry we have some spares. We supply a picnic breakfast with this tour. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.
