Itinerary

Targoviste

The Târgoviște Royal Court (Curtea Domnească din Târgoviște) is a historic architectural complex in Târgoviște, Romania, that served as the residence and administrative center of Wallachian rulers from the 15th to the 17th century. It was one of the main residences of Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Țepeș), the infamous voivode of Wallachia, who ruled from here and reinforced its fortifications. Key Features: Chindia Tower – The most iconic structure, built by Vlad the Impaler, used as a watchtower and defensive stronghold. The Princely Church – A Byzantine-style church adorned with frescoes, where Wallachian rulers worshipped. Ruins of the Royal Palace – The remains of the once grand princely residence, showcasing medieval and Renaissance architectural influences. Fortifications – Defensive walls and towers strengthened under Vlad the Impaler’s rule to protect the court from invasions.

Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)

Bran Castle, often referred to as Dracula's Castle, is a medieval fortress located near Bran, Romania, perched on a rocky hilltop with breathtaking views of the surrounding Carpathian Mountains. Built in the 14th century as a strategic defense point against Ottoman invasions, the castle is one of Romania’s most famous landmarks due to its dramatic architecture and legendary association with Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Țepeș), the historical figure who inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Key Features: Gothic Architecture – A striking medieval fortress with stone towers, hidden passageways, and narrow staircases. Dracula Mythology – Although Vlad the Impaler may never have lived here, the castle’s eerie, imposing presence and remote location have fueled its connection to Bram Stoker’s novel. Today, Bran Castle is a major tourist attraction, drawing those fascinated by its gothic allure, vampire legends, and deep historical significance.
