Tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong (Qianling)
Arrive at Qianling Mausoleum. Qianling is the joint burial tomb of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty, Li Zhi, and the only empress in Chinese history, Wu Zetian. It is renowned as the most representative and best-preserved among the eighteen Tang-dynasty tombs. You can visit the main attractions here, such as the stone carvings on both sides of the Sacred Way outside the inner city's Zhuque Gate. These stone carvings include famous works like the Wordless Stele, the Memorial Stele of Emperor Gaozong, the Statues of Sixty-one Foreign Ministers, and stone lions, which showcase the superb artistic level of the Tang Dynasty.
Qianling Museum
Continue to explore Qianling. You can visit the Qianling Museum, which is built on the site of Princess Yongtai's tomb. The museum houses a large number of precious cultural relics unearthed from the tombs, such as tri-colored glazed pottery, painted figurines, and mural paintings, providing you with an in-depth understanding of the social life, funeral customs, and artistic achievements of the Tang Dynasty. In addition, you can also visit the tombs of Crown Prince Zhanghuai and Crown Prince Yide to further appreciate the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty's mausoleum architecture and the exquisite craftsmanship of mural paintings.
