The Abbey dates back to 1191, and was visited by various monarchs and historical figures, such as David II, Edward I of England, Robert the Bruce, and Scotland’s national hero William Wallace. The first documented reference to whisky making at the Abbey dates from 1494 - over half a millennium ago! You can take an optional tour and whisky tasting at the Distillery.
