Silfra Drysuit Snorkeling Tour with Free Photos - From Reykjavik

Small Group

English

Snorkeling in a fissure caused by two tectonic plates drifting apart is something you can't do everyday! Silfra is the name of a big 'crack' stretching parallel to the North American and a micro-plate called Hreppar that broken off from the Eurasian plate.

Silfra has world-renowned clear and drinkable water with over 100 metre visibility daily. This is unlike any tour you can do in Iceland and is something you can't do anywhere else in the world.

We are the only company to offer wetsuit and drysuit. This means members of your group can book different options and still be together in the water.

We include photos and usually take around 40-100 photos as standard depending on the size of the tour and you will be able to download them after at least a few days.

We always have small groups, 6 people per guide. This allows for a better and more personal feel. If you have a group of 7 or more you can be together preparing your equipment but in the water some of you will be separate.

What's included in Silfra Drysuit Snorkeling Tour with Free Photos - From Reykjavik

(Subject to Option Inclusions)

Beginning your tour from you Reykjavík it takes approximately 45 minutes to journey on out to Silfra. Your certified guide will be going through the procedures of your tour upon arriving at Silfra. After, you will put on your gear and head to the flooded glacial Fissure, Silfra, created as the continental plates drift apart at a rate of about 2 cm per year.

There is never normally fish in the fissure, sometimes they swim in from the lake Thingvallavatn. The real reason people do this tour is for the unreal visibility, which is over 100 metres daily. You have to see it to believe it, photos do not do it justice! You're in the water for around 30-40 minutes. You'll finish the tour by warming up with some hot chocolate.

We do have the option to pre-book a wetsuit on another listing. Booking a wetsuit is recommended for people who want to have the chance to dive down or who are scuba divers without the required certifications for the scuba dive. For the wetsuit it is recommended that you are a confident swimmer, if you are not then the drysuit is best for you. To cater to everyone's desires we are the only company that has wetsuits and drysuits allowing them to be in the same group.
