Start with a morning pickup at your Lima hotel, then make the rougly 19-mile (30-km.) trip to the Pachacamac archeological site in an air-conditioned minivan. Upon arrival at the site, continue on foot with your guide, who will explain the history and significance of the ruins as you walk from site to site. Climb a series of switchbacks to the Temple of the Sun, which looks out towards the coast—some archeologists believe that the Temple of the Sun was once used for human sacrifices.
