The essence of 'Japanese calligraphy' is not about writing beautifully and correctly. It is a way of expressing a multitude of emotions using extremely simple materials: ink and water. The programme was created by a calligrapher who has studied calligraphy at a prestigious school in Kyoto and has spent half of his life walking the way of Japanese calligraphy. Take time to immerse yourself in the art in a comfortable space in a renovated 100-year-old house, while enjoying the view of the garden.
Meet at the studio "Shu-ha-ri", a renovated 100 year old house. The instructor, who is active as a calligraphy artist, will give you an overview of calligraphy. Experience various aspects of calligraphy culture through demonstrations by the instructor. With advice from the instructor, try your hand at calligraphy (ink rubbing and writing the words of ZEN). The instructor will think of a character for you and write it for you. Enjoy a cup of tea and sweets from Kyoto and relax in the garden.
You will make your own way to the meeting points
