Mismaloya Beach is a beautiful bay south of Puerto Vallarta, surrounded by lush jungle and calm waves. It’s ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or relaxing. The beach gained fame as the filming site of The Night of the Iguana in the 1960s. While the water can be crystal clear during certain seasons, visibility may vary depending on weather and ocean conditions. It remains a great starting point for boat tours to Los Arcos Marine Park and other natural attractions. Mismaloya offers a mix of local restaurants, soft sand, and authentic charm, making it a favorite for both locals and visitors looking for a peaceful yet adventurous coastal experience.
Los Arcos Marine Park is one of Puerto Vallarta’s most iconic natural landmarks. This group of granite islands rises dramatically from the sea and features arches, caves, and tunnels carved by the ocean over thousands of years. Located just off the coast of Mismaloya, it’s a protected marine reserve home to a wide variety of tropical fish, sea turtles, and sometimes even manta rays and dolphins. The site is a favorite for snorkeling and diving thanks to its rich marine life and unique rock formations. Visibility can vary depending on the season, but the experience is always magical. Swimming through the arches or simply admiring the scenery from a boat makes this a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Playa Colomitos is a hidden treasure on the south coast of Puerto Vallarta. It’s one of the smallest and most beautiful beaches in the area, known for its emerald-green water, golden sand, and the vibrant contrast of the surrounding jungle. Accessible only by boat or a short hike from Boca de Tomatlán, this secluded cove offers a peaceful escape from the city. Snorkeling here is popular, especially on calm days when the water is clear and full of colorful fish. Though small in size, Colomitos delivers big in natural beauty and tranquility, making it perfect for swimming, relaxing, or simply soaking in the stunning scenery. Its vibrant colors and untouched feel make it a favorite for photographers and nature lovers.
