Itinerary

Quattro Canti

Admire the square - Quattro Canti in the beating heart of the downtown. This baroque square at the crossing of the two principal streets in Palermo, the Via Maqueda and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele not only has a very special history, but also impresses with its unique design of the four extraordinary façades.

Fontana della Vergogna

Admire Fontana della Vergogna-one of the most beautiful fountains in Italy. It is popularly known as the fountain of shame due to the disproportionate sums paid to purchase it, the continuous rise in costs and the continuous increase in endless additional expenses, figures considered "shameful" by the people of Palermo.

Admire the statue of the Genius of Palermo, depicting a symbol of the city, which had been installed here in the 17th-century, but removed by the Bourbon administration after the Sicilian revolution of 1848. After the liberation of Sicily by Garibaldi in 1860, the fountain and statue, which had become a patriotic symbol, were reunited, and the piazza renamed.
