Zona Arqueologica de Mitla

HIERVE EL AGUA – Spanish for "the wáter boils". It is belived to have been a sacred place of the ancient Zapotec.The site consists of two rock cliffs, one rock formation reaching down twelve meters and the other reaching down thirty meters, both look like waterfalls. These formations are created by fresh water springs, whose water is over saturated with calcium carbonate and other minerals. There is a natural platform with four springs and pools in which visitors can swim in this thermal waters
