Clava Cairns are a group of prehistoric burial monuments located near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, dating back around 4,000 years to the Bronze Age. They consist of circular chambered cairns (stone mounds) surrounded by standing stones, thought to be used for ritual and burial purposes. The layout of the cairns is aligned with the winter solstice sunset, suggesting astronomical significance. Clava Cairns are considered some of the best-preserved examples of this type of ancient monument in Scotland.
