Live the peaceful atmosphere of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, one of the most important places of Catholic pilgrimage in the world. Built in the place where the three shepherds told about the apparitions of Our Lady in 1917, the sanctuary invites visitors to reflect, to pray or simply to contemplate its beauty and meaning. During your approximately 1-hour visit, explore the main basilicas, the Apparitions Chapel and the large esplanade, as you learn about the events that marked this sacred place. Whether by faith or curiosity, Fatima is always a stop with meaning and memory.
Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima
Situated in the heart of the Sanctuary, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary is an iconic place of prayer and reflection. Inaugurated in 1953 and designed by Dutch architect Gerardus Samuel van Krieken, this majestic church honors the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. Inside it reigns an atmosphere of peace and light, highlighted by beautiful vitrails that illustrate the Rosary mysteries. The basilica also houses the tombs of the three little shepherds — Jacinta, Francis and Lucy — who witnessed the apparitions in 1917. A stop loaded with meaning, whether by faith, history or architecture.
