Why don't you take a walk with a local guide through the common shopping street in Kameari, a downtown area of Tokyo? For dog lovers, a member of our family, Shiba Inu(Shiba-dog), will welcome you.

Here, you will find a nostalgic scene with rows of privately owned stores, which are becoming fewer and fewer in Tokyo. Kameari is also the setting for a manga (AKA Kochikame) that has been a favorite in Japan for over 40 years. Many famous comedians have lived here, and even "Takeshi Kitano" is from this area.

For snacks, enjoy a fried cake of minced meat or Japanese sweets dumpling at a Japanese sweets shop frequented by locals. For lunch, try some of the best ramen in Tokyo, one of the top five in the city. If ramen is not to your liking, don't worry, other options are available.

If you get tired of strolling, enjoy a cup of tea with a superb cake and a view of the shrine. With your guide, try ordering in Japanese and talking to the shopkeepers. We look forward to meeting you all !

Itinerary

Kameari Ririo Park

Welcome to Kameari! Kameari is the area where a popular national comic strip was set more than 40 years after its release. It is a traditional town of common people, full of downtown atmosphere. Our mame-shiba (small sized Shiba Inu) will welcome you. Unless, of course, you don't like dogs!

Take a stroll through the old shopping street of Kameari with your guide. Stop by an everyday, unadorned Japanese eatery to taste its products. While soaking up the historical atmosphere, you can enjoy mochi/dango (sweet snacks made from rice) and menchikatsu (minced pork or beef mixed with minced onions and seasonings, kneaded together, shaped into a small oval or sphere, and deep fried in oil). Take a stroll along the old-fashioned shopping street, and if you find a store you like, take a peek.

Kameari is also a town where famous ramen restaurants compete with each other. Try some of the finest ramen in Tokyo, one of the top five in the city. In some cases, you may have to wait in line for more than 30 minutes. Talk with your guide and wait with high expectations for your ramen. If you don't like waiting in line, of course you can always get lunch at one of the other restaurants! Kameari has many delicious lunch restaurants.
