Bovenkerk
The Bovenkerk is a prominent example of Gothic architecture in the Netherlands and is renowned for its imposing tower, which dominates the city's skyline. Construction of the church began in the 14th century, and it was completed in the 15th century. The church was built on higher ground, hence its name "Bovenkerk" or "Upper Church," to distinguish it from the lower-lying parts of the city.
The Koornmarktspoort, which translates to "Koornmarkt Gate," is one of the four remaining city gates of Kampen, along with the Cellebroederspoort, Broederpoort, and the city's most famous gate, the Kamperpoort. The Koornmarktspoort is named after the nearby Koornmarkt, which was historically a market square where grain was traded.
Burgwal runs through the heart of Kampen's old town, surrounded by buildings that showcase various architectural styles spanning several centuries. The street retains much of its historical character, with many buildings dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period.
