Your adventure takes you to a large New Zealand high country farm, which acts as a private station where the tour kicks off. Hop onto a powerful 4WD and take on the mountainous high country. With your vehicle rugged enough for the journey, you'll see the splendid mountain country, and head all the way up the mountainside to see the whole plateau, with splendid views of Lake Dunstan. Farming is a big part in this region, from the very first years of settlement in the country, so you'll hear all about it was you head through the wine regions of Central Otago. Past the vineyards, there's Kawarau Gorge and more natural wonders as you head to Old Cromwell Town. You guide will tell you all about the history of this area from the early settlers' difficulties, and how they built the town and prospered through gold mining. As you walk through the historic streets, themed GPS headsets are provided that allow you to feel as though the town has come back to life as you learn about the different areas. It's an amazing experience with the thrill of history to bring back home with you as you're brought back to Queenstown.
