The San Boldo Pass, located 700 meters above sea level, is characterized by a typically bucolic landscape, in which the inhabitants of the plain usually dive to escape the summer heat. The Pass is reached, past the built-up area of Tovena, covering for about ten minutes the historic "100 days road", today s.p. 635, characterized by bends and curved axis tunnels. In recent history a page of sure importance, and not only local, has written it the last century: during the First World War in fact it was built the driveway that connects the San Boldo to the valley bottom of Treviso. The work was carried out in fact by the Austro-Hungarian army which, during the occupation of 1918, needed a direct route with the Piave line. Today the company is remembered for an incredible detail: the street, with 5 tunnels dug into the rock, was in fact built with the use of about 7,000 men in just 100 days. To commemorate this feat, some photographic panels have been positioned along the street and, at the Alpini headquarters in Tovena, located at the top of the Pass, there is an exhibition dedicated to the Great War.
