Karate, Chicken Rice, and Japanese Tea – A Cultural Experience in Kagoshima
Join us for a hands-on journey into Kagoshima’s rich culture! Begin with a traditional karate lesson, where you'll learn etiquette, basic movements, and try simple kata. At the end, experience the thrill of board-breaking (ita-wari) — exciting and fun for all levels!
You can also add an optional activity: make “Keihan,” a local chicken rice soup loved by Kagoshima locals. It’s tasty, comforting, and fun to prepare. Advance booking and an additional fee are required for this option.
After the activities, enjoy Kagoshima green tea brewed with soft water from an iron kettle. Or try refreshing Yakushima orange juice, made with natural ingredients.
This program blends movement, food, and tradition for a unique and unforgettable experience. Perfect for solo travelers, families, or groups. Reserve now and feel the spirit of Kagoshima!
This is a special program that allows participants to casually experience traditional karate, which originated in Kagoshima, in the historic area of Koraicho. Participants will be carefully guided through basic movements that can be enjoyed as exercise, as well as simple kata suited to their level of experience. The program includes a Kagoshima-related drink service, a commemorative certificate of completion, and even a board-splitting challenge to give participants a real sense of accomplishment. Please note that although some photos may show outdoor scenes, the actual karate experience takes place indoors in a clean, traditional dojo. Beginners and experienced martial artists are all welcome! We hope you will experience the charm of Kagoshima's unique culture and martial arts in this special experience.
