Our adventure starts at Fuggerei, where you can admire the oldest social settlement in the world history which was founded by one of the richest families in the world. It is the home of 150 people today.

From this point, we will head into the old city and begin by visiting the birthplace of the worldwide acclaimed artist Berthold Brecht, and about his the Three penny opera. We continue our walk until we reach the Butcher’s Guild, built by Elias Holl, the master architect who designed the most important buildings during Augsburg’s golden age, the 17th century. We stop at the St. Peter am Perlach Church to take a look at the painting of Mary untie of knots, a unique depiction of the virgin Mary and a site of pilgrimage for believers around the world.

Zeughaus

Get a look at the Town hall, the first building in the world to have 6 floors. Also designed by Elias Holl, it was built to host the Imperial diet. There will be time to learn more about the Weaver’s Guild, important for the trade of textiles, the place that put Augsburg on the map. Here, you can admire the paintings adorning the Weaver’s Guild’s outside walls and get a glimpse of Augsburg’s history. We then make our way to the Zeughaus, the Armory, which was converted into a cultural building after the Second World War. Another of Elias Holl’s masterpiece.
